The Worship Center Church (TWCC) is a fast growing church located in Birmingham, Alabama. The church contacted Elite Multimedia after attending an audio/video training seminar we conducted in the Birmingham area. Elite worked alongside the church for a year as they sought to find an existing space they could renovate. The church found this location in Bessemer, AL. Elite consulted with the church and designed the audio, video and lighting system for this once 900 seat venue, which was being expanded to more than 1,200. Since the church has a very high energy style of worship Elite designed and installed a high output system that would accomplish this goal. Elite went to Electro Voice’s XLD line array speakers in conjunction with bi-amped side and down fill speakers. The ceiling height in the sanctuary space was extremely high, approximately 55’. Elite recommended that a drop ceiling be put in to decrease the room volume and decrease ambient/environmental noise. Originally, Elite had designed the subwoofers to be on the floor, but given the re-design of the pre-existing stage, Elite chose to fly them. Elite’s field technicians flew twelve subwoofers (subs) from the catwalk just behind the main speaker array. The configuration of the subs allowed the frequencies produced by them to be steered down which kept the sound off of the ceiling and the stage. To further complement the system Elite chose an Avid SC48 digital console for front of house (FOH.) To help decrease the stage volume, Elite chose a MyMix system personal mixer system. The MyMix system allows each musician to mix sixteen channels. It also allows them to record to an SD card, which allows them the freedom to practice at home. A Jands Vista M1 console is used to control the lighting system. The Jands software provides an easy computerized visual interface, which makes light programming very easy. Elite also installed three Panasonic projectors and DaLite projection screens as the highlight of the video system. A Panasonic switcher was installed to switch camera and graphic inputs to the projection system. All video inputs from cameras are distributed over BlackMagics’ SDI converters. Elite also installed a digital signage system that allows the church to send any video input to any television monitor on campus. This install was a complete solution that volunteers run from week to week with great quality.
